We were back in church for the fourth Sunday after Trinity, with a communion by extension service conducted by our reader Jill Nattrass.This is another example of how we are continuing to offer worship at St James in spite of currently being without a vicar. Next Sunday our service will be one of Morning Prayer.Also this week, the gardening team meets as usual on Monday at 10am and the regular coffee morning is on Friday in the hall 10.30-12noon.This week will also be marked by the funeral on Thursday in church of Richard (known as Dick) Bell, a longstanding member of St James. We continue to hold his family in our prayers.
Another successful Cafe Church was held last Sunday, enjoyed by all who attended.We're back in church next Sunday, July 10, the fourth after Trinity, when we will have communion by extension led by our Reader.This week is also the time for our monthly Morning Prayer, in church on Thursday at 9.45am.Then it's our regular Coffee Morning in the hall, 10.30 to 12noon.
For our service next Sunday, July 3, we are holding another Cafe Church following the success of our first event in April.We start at 10.30 in the church hall for coffee, tea and croissants, followed by our service at 11am. This is an informal type of worship which everyone will join in and enjoy.All welcome - bring a friend!Also this week, the gardening team meets at the church as usual on Monday, 10am, and on Friday our regular coffee morning is in the church hall, 10.30 to 12noon.
Lovely service this morning (June 19) for the first Sunday after Trinity, with some special hymns and an inspiring sermon from the Rev Andrea Dart.Only two events this week: the gardening team meet on Monday at 10am and our regular Coffee Morning is on Friday 10.30 to 12. It was especially busy last Friday so we're looking forward to another good turnout next week.We continue to support the Stanley Foodbanks, all contributions gratefully received.Looking ahead, we are holding another Cafe Church following the popularity of our first attempt a few weeks ago. This will be on Sunday, July 3, in the church hall at 11am. The more the merrier!
