Ash Wednesday began a lengthy season in which we prepare our hearts to remember and celebrate the most awesome and important events in human history. God’s son nailed to a cross. The staggering miracle of resurrection. Salvation and new life for all who believe. Every year at the Cathedral at 11am on Maundy Thursday there is a Chrism Eucharist. At this service priests and deacons renew their ordination vows and rededicate themselves afresh to the beautiful ministry to which Jesus has called them to. This is always well attended by clergy, but the number of lay people can be low. However, without the people of God, there is no point in ministry. It would be lovely, therefore, if members of our congregation / church families could attend this special service so that vows are made in the presence of those whom it is our privilege to serve. This is followed by a free lunch, and all are welcome. To help with preparations we are asked to submit numbers. There is a sheet at the back of church. If you will attend, please pop your name on. I will submit the names on the 10th of March. Love Revd. Lesley x

Life today is so very demanding of our time, attention, and… emotions. Jesus calls us to love our neighbours as we love ourselves. Loving ourself is not about being selfish. We must recognise and acknowledge that we need to be ‘full’ before we can give to others. If we are worn down, physically tired, and spiritually empty, we need to be refilled, refuelled, and recharged. We can do this, by placing Jesus Christ at the centre of all we do. We do that, by connecting with Him in prayer and worship, being committed and disciplined to do so regularly….weekly….daily.
We explored Lent and its significance in our Christian life. Some of the youngsters received the imposition of ashes. They all made cards with pledges as to how they would look after themselves and also others. We finished off with hot dogs, waffles and pop!To view more pictures click the link.During Lent, the children have been given the challenge of doing something to ‘Look after yourselves and others in Lent’. We thought it might be something the adults at St. Anne’s could join in with too. Have a look at the display in the Narthex to see if you can complete one of the challenges or make up one of your own. Just make sure you choose activities that are ideas that fit the heading. The children will be adding photos to the display – please send one of yourself to helenparker484@gmail.com or Reverend Lesley areadean.pendle@Blackburn.Anglican.Org
