July 2022In a new eco-conscious initiative for St. Giles, we have had assistance from the Caring for God's Acre organisation on maintaining our cemetery in a wildlife-friendly way. This Summer saw a working party scything the long grass - and enjoying the birdsong!
13th May 2022St. Giles has hosted another very successful exhibition in aid of church funds, reprising the wonderful display of wedding dresses which was so much appreciated a few years ago. Once again, Margaret Edwards and Jean Parker from E. J. Poyner the drapers assisted greatly with the organisation, lending some of the dresses and many related items, as well as staging the display. 6th March 2022St. Giles' congregation is mourning the loss of our much-loved and highly-regarded organist Colin Reeves, who died on 5th March at the age of 75. He was also the organist at our former sister church St. John's in Ludlow, as well as being the founder and conductor of the Ludlow Concert Band. The BBC has published an obituary.
11th September 2021The Historic Churches Trust was able to run its nationwide Ride & Stride event again this year after the Covid hiatus in 2020. St. Giles was one of the local participating churches, welcoming visitors keen to clock up as many visits as possible in the day. Our Verger Pam Farquhar (pictured with her trusty steed on Bromfield Bridge) took on the challenge of visiting other churches in the Ludlow area. 50% of the money raised by Pam and by our visitors will come to St. Giles; the rest goes to the Historic Churches Trust to fund their grants scheme for churches and chapels.
