Sapcote Churches Together Flowers@Easter On Wednesday 27th March, 100 brightly coloured Primula plants were delivered around Sapcote and Sharnford by members of the churches from both villages. We have since heard from many different sources just how much these small gifts blessed the recipients, who had all been nominated for many and varied reasons. Thank you so much to the large delivery team who gave up their time so willingly to carry out this very worthwhile task.
Blaby District Council Awards Community Grant to support the work of Hope in Sapcote and Sharnford!!The Hope Team would like to thank the Blaby District Council for their very generous award of a Community Grant for £1000. The Hope initiative began at Christmas 2020 with the aim of delivering food to local families in need and showing them that their community was thinking about them and wanted to help. The Hope Team comprises members of the churches of Sapcote and Sharnford who work in conjunction with the schools, preschools and Parish Councils to reach the families that are most in need of this support. Hampers or vouchers are delivered to them at Christmas, Easter and in the summer. This grant, awarded in December, will certainly be of great help as we plan for 2024Di Harrold
On Friday 17th November All Saints Church hosted a fundraising evening for Hinckley Area Foodbank featuring the 'Lets get loud' Choir and Major Carol Evans of the Salvation Army. Arranged at fairly short notice, this concert was well supported by the village and foodbank community. 'Let's Get Loud' Choir, a community choir based in Lutterworth did the opening set of the evening. Only established 2 years ago, they entertained the audience with a range of songs from the last 50 years of popular music. The choir were expertly led by choirmaster Ben Steer and enjoyment seeping from their performance spread throughout the audience. Major Carol did a smaller set of beautiful ballads and ended the first half of the evening getting the audience to join in with the chorus of a modern children's Christmas carol - pointing the way to an event less than 40 days away! Following a refreshments interval, Chris Wright, Deputy Project Manger/ Fundraiser for Hinckley Area Foodbank gave a short presentation highlighting what has been locally provided to support the community in times of crisis. His presentation ended with a thoughtful video poem written by those who have received help. 'Let's Get Loud' brought the evening to a glowing end with their second set.The concert was free to attend but donations were collected for the Foodbank during the evening. The wonderful sum of £632 was raised from this enjoyable evening.A big thank you to 'Let's Get Loud', Major Carol, Di Harrold (& the All Saints team) and all those who came out to support the event.Jim Matthews Hinckley Area Foodbank volunteer & trustee of HCCA (the charity that runs the foodbank) For further information please contact Di Harrold 07775766405
