Seagrave's Christmas Choir performed a carol written specially for the occasion at the Village Carol Service on Sunday 17th December. "Come Let us Sing", written for three part choir with piano accompaniment, flute and drum, tells the listener to sing, rejoice and pass on the good news of Jesus birth. The village hand-bell ringers also took part in the service, playing a selection of carols and finishing with "We wish you a merry Christmas". It was great to hear the hand-bells for the first time since before the Covid restrictions and lovely to see a number of young people, who have taken up ringing recently, taking part. Thank you all!
The "Well Seasoned Singers and Players" presented a varied programme of folk carols and winter songs to a full church on Sunday afternoon, 3rd December. Donations to Rainbows amounted to over £230 and £120 was raised for the church. Did you know that there are many different tunes to the words of "While Shepherds Watched their Flocks by Night"? Each village had its own music, and sometimes added a chorus to their carols, so there were variations right across the country. There is still a strong tradition of village carols around Sheffield, the West Country and elsewhere. Look out for "Well-Seasoned" performing near you next year!
