We are planning to have a church cleaning session from 2pm on Saturday August 12th - there are spiders to be evicted! If you are handy with a duster then come along and join in - many hands make light work and we are sure to have fun together.Weather permitting we are hoping to tackle some of the untidy areas in the churchyard. The willow circle central flower bed is overgrown and needs weeding so we can decide how to maintain it. There are 2 other areas overgrown with brambles and thistles which we want to tackle too. If you're a keen gardener come along with gloves and tools and get stuck in!We are hoping that people living in the village will want to come and help so spread the word, bring your friends, family and any passing stranger!
Rev John Holland and his wife Jean have been with us in Chevington since Covid lockdown when John began leading Sunday worship by telephone. For the past 18 months John has been helping to manage our parish through its interregnum, giving us two Sundays every month and many hours in between. On Sunday July 30th we had to say "Goodbye" as John and Jean have moved to live closer to their family in Lancashire. We will miss them immensely, but wish them every happiness in their new home. We are sure it won't belong before another parish benefits from their presence.
We would like to invite children to an activity morning at St John’s church on Wednesday July 26th from 10am to 12 noon. There will be craft activities and stories on the theme of Creation. There will be plenty of trained adults to look after the children so parents can have a free morning – though they are welcome to stay and join in the fun. Please would you RSVP to sheilajorgill@gmail.com or text 07484 825203 to let us know if your child can come? We need to have your child’s name, age and any food allergies, please.
