This concert will take you on a journey along 150 years of music: from Sullivan to Stamford, from Cole Porter and Rodgers and Hammerstein, through to recent composers such as Karl Jenkins and John Rutter. There will be songs from Victorian and Edwardian eras and down the decades – 1930’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s 70’s and 80’s and as modern as 2018!There are compositions in Latin, French, ‘ethnic/tribal’ sound and of course in English. There is music composed for a competition, (his “graduation piece”), music written for a church dedication and music from Broadway musicals and films. What a truly eclectic mix. Stately choral works with hauntingly beautiful numbers and quiet reflective pieces: there are jolly tunes and choruses to click the fingers to and get the feet tapping.Come along and join us while we ‘Sing’ and ‘make music’ as we ride the ‘Chattanooga Choo Choo’ to take you on a journey to ‘some enchanted evening’. Here we can show you the ‘ol’ razzle dazzle’ while you bask in the ‘lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer’. Enjoy an evening of lovely music – something there for everyone to enjoy……… as the music says ‘Anything Goes.’Buy your tickets at St Barnabas Community Centre on Sundays from 12 to 1pm.
As Spring has sprung, we will be heading back into the Church building in May. After months of keeping warm in the St Barnabas' Community Centre. We are fundraising for a new heating system. In the meantime we have electric heaters, blankets and we can dress warmly. If you would like to support our Church, please sign up for a shopping site that donates to our cause if you shop through it first. It is called Easyfundraising. Here is the link to our page: St Barnabas Church - Bournmoor Fundraising | Easyfundraising
Until further notice all services at St Barnabas Church will be held in the Parish Hall due to problems with the heating system.
We opened the Church building for quiet contemplation, historic research or just for a look around the inside the Church building. The building remained open for 2 hours every week, while different volunteers offered to sit and welcome visitors. It was a great success. We had people who had travelled and were looking up their family. People who were Christened in the Church. People who had come to see our impressive Angel sculpture and stained glass windows. Others who just came to sit in the space with their own thoughts or prayers. Our thanks to all of those volunteers who sat and assisted visitors. If you missed this opportunity, we will be opening the building again in the Spring. We look forward to seeing you then.
