We are fundraising to raise money to pay for major repairs and some re-ordering works to St Mary Magdalene Church. Architect plans have been formally approved for the Grade I Listed Medieval Church, but we need to raise about £20,000 more to proceed with the project. The Church Repair Project:· Repair of external drainage to the South Façade, causing internal dampness· Replacement of the rotten and damaged nave floor · A new energy efficient main boiler & relocation to the vestry· Removal of 5 pews from the rear of church to create a more flexible space· Redecoration of plasterworkMedomsley Parochial Church Council would be very grateful for any financial donation you may be able to offer. St Mary Magdalene, Medomsley is in vacancy and the Area Dean arranges cover for baptisms. There is no charge for Christenings but donations are welcomed, especially if the baptism is outside of the usual 9am Sunday Service. Baptisms outside of the Sunday Service are usually at 12.30pm. There is a booking form.For Weddings and funerals, please contact the Area Dean to book. Fees for weddings and funerals can be found on our church noticeboard but are in line with Church Of England We do have a Memorial Garden to the rear of the church for the burial and scattering of ashes. The churchyard is 'closed' to burials. No grave markers are permitted without prior PCC permission. Mountsett Crematorium at Dipton is 10 minutes drive away. Seven Penny Meadow burial ground DH8 6BA is 5 minutes away on the boundary of the village. Contact 'Go As You Please Funerals' for the private burial ground.
