A lovely service in church for the first Sunday in Advent was followed in the afternoon by our Christingle service, enjoyed by parents and children alike.There will be another service in church this week, morning prayer is on Thursday, December 1, at 9.45am.We're also preparing for the Christmas Messy Church, which will be in the church hall on the afternoon of December 11.And tickets are now available for our Christmas Concert in church on the evening of December 16, in aid of church funds.More details about our Christmas services can be found on the separate page.
Our Table Top Sale on November 19 raised £1,010 in total, a great result for everyone involved. The money will help support St James Church over the next year and beyond. Many thanks to everyone who made this possible.We had another successful Cafe Church today (November 20) to celebrate Christ the King with words, hymns and prayers.Next week (November 27) we are back in church for the First Sunday of Advent, and in the afternoon our Christingle service will be in the church hall, starting 4pm.
We're in the church hall next Sunday, November 20, when we celebrate Christ the King with Cafe Church.The service starts at 11am but there will be the usual refreshments in advance so people are asked to arrive after 10.30am.There will be readings and intercessions, but Cafe Church offers a more relaxed form of worship.On the day before, November 19, we have our Table Top Sale in the hall, from 10.30am to 2.30pm, offering a variety of tables, as well as a raffle, a chocolate tombola and refreshments. Hopefully this will be a good fund-raiser for the church, replacing the traditional Christmas fair.And talking of Christmas ... we have finalised our Christmas services, full details are available on the separate page on this site.We are also looking forward to a Christmas-themed concert in church on the evening of Friday, December 16.
