Thanks to Ray & John who have replaced the locks. Church Maintenance Fellowship – Thank you to those of you who have already put your name down to be part of a church maintenance group. Even if you can’t commit yourself, you may know someone who is handy and would be prepared to help out. Why not ask them? They don’t have to be a church member. Step 4 (Possibly June 21st) When we move to Step 4 of the roadmap out of lockdown the Government hopes to be able to remove all legal limits on social contact. However, depending on the results of the Events Research Programme, some guidance and recommendations around testing and infection risk-reduction are likely to remain in place for several months. The exact nature of the guidance will only emerge as results from research are analysed but will likely be around handwashing, minimising high risk activities such as hugging and singing, rigorous cleaning regimes and good ventilation. It seems likely that we will be responsible for carrying out our own risk assessment and implementing appropriate measures relevant to our own context for managing risk. Any activity that involves people gathering will expose those participating to the potential of infection. Being indoors, and in close proximity to others is riskier than being outdoors, socially distanced. The PCC is meeting on June 23 when together we will discuss our response to the guidelines. There is always unlimited and free parking on Highbury Avenue and to make access from that side easier, the church door on Highbury will be open on Tuesdays. Sorry for any inconvenience. Public Notice – At the AGM the Vicar reported on our efforts to replace the windows on both sides of the church tower. This is a huge undertaking and has taken many meetings and planning to get to this stage. From Wednesday of last week we commenced a period of 30 days notice to give anyone in the church or the community the opportunity to object. Please do ask the Vicar or any member of the PCC for further details. And do pray that this project will be allowed to proceed. Church Maintenance Fellowship – We really need to get together a small group of people who will meet together regularly to plan and undertake general maintenance of the church and church grounds. Could you trim the bushes? Could you cement the paving stone that’s loose? Could you reattach the downpipes? Could you unblock the drains that take the water from the roof? Could you brew up? Could you clean the windows at ground level? <span style="font-size: 1rem;">It’s important that we get on top of these jobs otherwise they will morph into expensive problems. Brian Pendlebury has kindly offered to head this up for us. Coronavirus update w.e.f May 17th – Moving to the next step of the government’s road map this coming week makes very little difference to our existing procedures. Congregational singing is still prohibited and we are still waiting for clarification regarding serving refreshments. Whilst the limit at funerals has been removed, it is still limited to the socially distanced capacity of the church. We have 10 pews in use, which will accommodate a maximum of 10 family bubbles/households. Families will be asked to complete a seating plan prior to the funeral. Annual General Meeting – As this meeting follows close on the heels of the last meeting, we will only be attending to the necessary legal requirements. There will be no reports from the PCC or group leaders. We so hope that you are finding the content helpful in your daily discipline. Overflowing God, breathe the spirit of Jesus into me and into all those who long for peace, especially those who have drifted from your way, got stuck in their faith, or who have not yet found a way to believe.
