As many of you know I'm turning 50 in July and have decided to mark it by completing a 500m cycle ride over seven days from my parents home in Kent to ours in Higham. I lost my Mum to Alzheimer's earlier this year and have decided to use this event to try and raise some money for the Alzheimer's Research Charity who are funding research into better ways of treating this debilitating disease. If anyone would like to sponsor me I have set up a just giving page the details of which are below. Many thanks Simonhttps://www.justgiving.com/page/simon-gilbert-1686518154397
Our retiring May Queen, Annabella had raised just short of £2,000 for her charities (Myeloma UK and Pendleside Hospice) and she also gave a generous donation to St John’s Church. Annabella handed over her reign to Noah, our May King. He gave a short speech and announced he will be raising money for Save the Children, as he was distressed at what he sees on tv about children in Ukraine and other parts of the world. We all sang hymns, accompanied by Balderstone Brass Band, who continued to play in concert as we enjoyed a picnic on the lawn. It was really lovely to have Robert, our Organist join us, as he continues to make a good recovery. To view a few more photo's from the day please click the link.
We talked about God’s Kingdom as well as exploring ideas about Kingdoms. The youngsters designed their own Kingdom! ‘Shark Weird Kingdom’ ‘Candy Kingdom’ and ‘Square Kingdom’ were some of the wonderful creations! To see pictures from the evening please click on the link.
