Next Thursday, 26 May, is Ascension Day, which marks Jesus's final farewell to his disciples and his ascent to Heaven. In Christian art, such as this stained glass window in Chepstow, the ascending Jesus is often shown blessing an earthly group below him, signifying the entire Church. We shall mark Ascension Day with a special service at St Andrew's at 8.00 am, to which all are very welcome.St Luke Ch 40 verse 50: "And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he parted from them, and was carried up into heaven. And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy."
