BVM, St John the Baptist & All Saints, Witham Frairy

Witham Friary, as the church is known locally, is at the heart of the farming village of Witham Friary and is the last surviving Carthusian churches in England.   It is well supported by the village and hosts concerts as well as church services.   It is one of eight churches in the group of Postlebury and East Mendip churches.  There is a service on the second Sunday of every month and additional services at festival times, such as Christmas.  As part of the Parish of Postlebury members of the congregation attend each others services in weeks where there is not one in their village.

Safeguarding

Our parish of Postlebury is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Bath & Wells’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO Caroline Pomeroy at [email protected] or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor Ben Goodhind at [email protected] Tel: 01749 588917.

If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services."
