Lydbury North: St Michael & All Angels

The site of the church is of Anglo Saxon origin as the existence of the parish of Lydbury North is attested in historic records. The Domesday entry records the existence of a Church in 1086. The Church is dedicated to St. Michael and All Angels of whom there is a representation to be seen in the stained glass window behind the organ. The living church of St. Michael and All Angels provides an inclusive welcome to all in the form of service for worshippers and those whose interest is in the historic building.

The survival of this historic cultural monument is dependent on a few volunteers who passionately believe in their preservation, not just as places of worship, but as symbols of our cultural heritage. The parish community consists of residents of a variety of ages, professions and lifestyles. Some services are lay led, creating an informal and accessible environment for individuals and families, especially for children. Through this approach, the church contributes by being active, vibrant and viable by making a valued contribution to the community.

The church currently costs a minimum of £18,000 per annum to run, which can be shown to equate to £346 per week. If each casual visitor donated £5 this would contribute considerably to covering the basic cost of keeping the church open for the foreseeable future. The church is part of the parish giving scheme, details of which are below, so if you feel able to give regularly your help would be greatly appreciated.
