About Us

If you are new to Northfleet, or have lived here for some time but not quite crossed the threshold, you are very welcome indeed to our magnificent church. The current building is 700 years old but we think there has been a church on this site since Saxon times.  Our worship is drawn from the Modern Catholic tradition of the Church of England and is focused on teaching from the Bible, reverent and traditional but accessible and open to all. We are a friendly community who welcome everyone, especially families with children. We hold baptisms almost every week and local people have a deep affection and personal link with St. Botolph's, many of whom were themselves baptised here.

We have probably the oldest rood screen in Kent (14th century) which survived damage caused during the Reformation in the 16th Century. Come and see if you can find the church mouse carved in the screen. There is also a very arresting hanging rood of Christ reigning in glory from the Cross, rendered in a very different, 20th century style from much of the rest of the décor which stretches from Norman, medieval and Victorian features.

Northfleet is changing. The Harbour Village and the growing Ebbsfleet Garden City  and Cable Wharf developments bringing change and opportunity and we are committed to serving the community during this transition and into the future. There may well be a number of new people moving to the area -perhaps you are one of them-as Northfleet changes. We would love to welcome you to St. Botolph's as a place in which you may learn more of and know of the love of Jesus Christ.
