Getting here
Holy Family church was built in 1957-8 and consecrated in June 1959. It has an open worship area and a spacious hall attached. It serves the Kings Farm and Christianfields estates, part of which has recently been substantially re-built. If you have recently moved in, please come and see us or contact me.
Holy Family, and St Margaret's Ifield are in a united Benefice, which means they are separate parishes but have one Priest-in-Charge. It also means people living in Holy Family Parish can be married in St Margaret's Church (and vice-versa). The Benefice is part of the East Gravesend Group of Anglican churches, along with St Aidan's (serving Westcourt and Riverview Park), Christ Church Echo Square, and St Mary's Wrotham Road.
Here at Holy Family we are a small but slowly growing committed congregation of variouas ages and ethnic origins who try to be what it says on the tin: a group of people dedicated to God and each other. We'd love to welcome you.We have 2 study groups that meet fortnightly, one in the afternoon and the other in the evening.
On Sundays we host the Redeemed Christian Church of God ("Solution Ground") who worship 9-10.30am. We plan to work more closely with them asnd the New Covenant Church (who worship on Sundays in the Elite venue), as God guides.
We have a spacious, warm Hall, adjoining the Church, which is available for hire. Thanks to the generosity of Gravesham Council, The Garfield Weston foundation, the Foyle Foundation, the National Churches Trust, the Rank Foundation, other grant-making bodies and individual donations the hall was upgraded in summer 2014 by installing new windows, flooring and toilets. Every Friday in term time we run "FRIDAY STARS". This is a free group for pre-school children and their carers. Please arrive any time from 1.15pm. There are lots of toys and ride-ons, a craft activity, a place for adults to sit and chat, and refreshments (donations invited). About 2pm we go into the Church for a short Bible story, prayer and song - this is optional. We end at 2.45pm after helping with tidy-up time!
Current users of our hall include Twinkles Nursery Mon-Wed, 9am-2pm (contact [email protected]) Bounce and Beatz dancing academy Mondays, Thursday and Saturdays (contact [email protected]) and the New Covenant Church of God (Friday evenings).
In 2014-5 we created our community garden, funded by "Awards for All" and the Stanley Smith Horticultural Trust. If you would like to get involved we'd love to hear from you. Normally we work there on Thursdays, but this is flexible. there are also lots of other practical jobs that need doing in and around the Church - if you'd like to volunteer please be in touch.
