From 2023 we will use the BCP bi-monthly as our main act of worship on Sunday at 10am.
The BCP is the foundational worship and doctrine text of the Church of England and it is good to now offer this more widely at our main service so that more people can rediscover or get to know the Prayer Book and its call for amendment of life and trust in God's mercy and goodness.
It's also a global book: each time we use the BCP we join with millions of Anglicans worldwide; this helps us to live out our identity as part of the Catholic and Apostolic Church through our liturgy.
The order of service is attached so the service may be followed if you are watching the live stream.

We use the BCP monthly on the last Wednesday at 9.30am, too. This service is not live streamed. At Night Prayer we use 1928 Prayer Book Compline on Sundays. 8pm on Facebook.

St Aidan

Welcome to the parish church of St Aidan, Gravesend.

You are assured of a warm welcome here. St Aidan's is a church for all ages and backgrounds and we serve our diverse and wonderful community through worship and various activities in the community. We have good links with local schools, Primary and Secondary and have a very popular nursery. We look forward to meeting you!

The parish of St Aidan is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). The Diocese of Rochester’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.

From Lament to Action St Aidan's welcomes and supports the recent report on racism in the Church of England and its call for racial justice. The full report can be read at https://www.churchofengland.org/sites/default/files/2021-04/FromLamentToAction-report.pdf

Our worship is recognisably Anglican and has a traditional feel, yet is accessible and clear.

We reserve the Sacrament at St Aidan's (keep some consecrated bread at all times in church) which sanctifies the space with Christ's presence in a spiritual way.

People who identify themselves as 'Church of England' will be happy here; we also have people from other Christian backgrounds who worship with us, including Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Methodist, URC and Pentecostal, who also feel at home. In this way, we try to be truly Anglican- open to all in the community.
