Getting here
St Margaret of Antioch is a historic and picturesque grade 1 listed building built in 940 AD, although it contains some stone that is much older and is thought to have come from the nearby Roman Villa. It has a real village feel about it and it is a perfect wedding venue for those seeking something special while traditional. It ias now part of the Darent Valley Benefice together with St John the Bpatist Sutton at Hone and St Mary The Virgin, Horton Kirby,
Our visitors often comment on the Church's calm and prayerful atmosphere something that helps groups who come to us for quiet days that are often hosted in our St Luke's room.
The bells which are rung at every service are of varying ages the oldest being cast in the 15th Century. The Church contains a unique Norman font which is still in use and a fine medieval colour scheme. The large Churchyard has many interesting graves through which the history of Darenth and the surrounding area can be traced. Some of the graves are themselves listed.
Services take place on the second Sunday in the month at 8.30am and 10am. One Sunday in four there is very informal service of Family Praise which takes place at 10am. When there are no services here there are services in our other two Churches.
