The work on the murals is now complete. In 2017 the roof above the murals developed a small leak. We searched for the source of this leak, but it was very difficult to find where the water was coming from. Repairs were done until all the possible leaks were stopped an the murals started to dry out. Now we could start to collect funds to repair the damage - £40,000. We did collect this money and the restoration work started in the autumn. Now the scaffolding is down and the work finished so that we can see out beautiful murals again
We have planted a crab apple tree to commemorate the 160th anniversary of St Mary's. We hope that this will have beautiful flowers in the spring as well as providing food for small animals and birds. We might also be able t make jelly from these apples of paradise.
This September St Mary's is 160 years old, so we have been celebrating. One of the things that we did was to have a celebratory lunch. This was in the Church and finished with a sparkling anniversary cake.
