We have planted a crab apple tree to commemorate the 160th anniversary of St Mary's. We hope that this will have beautiful flowers in the spring as well as providing food for small animals and birds. We might also be able t make jelly from these apples of paradise.
This September St Mary's is 160 years old, so we have been celebrating. One of the things that we did was to have a celebratory lunch. This was in the Church and finished with a sparkling anniversary cake.
Bugs and insects need our help to grow and thrive, so we are helping them as we can.We have built a large bug hotel to protect the larvae and other small creatures as they grow and metamorphosise. It will also help small animals like frogs and newts to survive cold and damp spells. We gathered together on Saturday and had a lovely morning putting our new bug hotel together and it is now standing proudly in the Churchyard
We gathered for a meal of Moroccan Lamb and salad in the evening of Maundy service, to commemorate the Last Supper. As part of the {assover, the meal included a bitter leaf salad to remind us of the flight from Egypt. After the meal, we went into the Church for Holy Communion, finishing by removing all the candles etc.
