Welcome to our parish, founded by personal friends of John Keble, instigator of the Oxford Movement, a movement from the 19th Century that sought to restore some of the more traditional forms of worship in the Church of England.
Rooted within the Anglican Church, we are a parish that celebrates our Anglo-Catholic foundation, valuing scripture, the teachings of the early church and sacramental life. The Eucharist, more commonly known as Mass, is central to the community’s worship, intended to appeal to one's whole person - to heart as well as head, to senses as well as to intellect. St Katharine’s is traditionally Anglo Catholic, but St Nicholas is more informal and its worship style is changing as the church family there grows and develops. With two different traditions of worship in the one parish, we trust that you will find a warm welcome whenever you choose to join us, whether it be for Mass or an 'occasional office' such as baptism and marriage. Details of our churches and an insight into the many activities taking place for all ages, can be found on our website. If you are new to the area, or to the church, please make yourself known to one of our churchwardens.
We are an inclusive church, and, whether you come as a family, a couple, or alone, we hope you will find friendship among us, and enjoy being part of our church family as we worship the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit together.
