THANK YOU to all who have helped us with Phase 1 of re-opening St Helen's successfully on Easter Morning (Sun 31st March 2024). St Helen's is a much-loved church in Dry Sandford, Oxfordshire, and the focal point for a wider community. For more than 160 years, generations of school children at two local schools have attended services beneath its stone arches. Its walls have witnessed hundreds of weddings, baptisms and funerals, as well as countless Sunday devotions. Community events - such as Remembrance Day, Harvest Festival, Plant Sales, Annual BBQ - have helped foster feelings of charity, fellowship and cohesion.
Because of a fall of masonry on the interior of the building in 2018 and 2019, the church building was closed until March 2024 whilst we fundraised for its repair.
We raised an initial £125,000 to repair structural damage to walls (Phase 1) which has allowed us to open the Nave of the Church building. There is still more to do! A second phase will need to be completed to replace the roof which has been estimated at £350,000. Please help this campaign to continue to repair this fine building and, in doing so, support our vision to utilise this space for more community events, providing a special place for generations to come.
