The Friends of St Bartholomew and All Saints Church is a local charity whose objectives are the preservation, restoration and repair of the fabric of the Church and its contents. Registered with the Charity Commission, it was first established by Rev Bede Cooper in 1981 in response to serious water and beetle damage being found in the roof, which demanded a costly restoration including the repainting of the 18th century ceiling. Many other projects have been financed since, including repairs to the Tower and restoration of the Organ as well as the provision of carpeting, to the sum of at least £170,000. All monies raised are held separately from other church funds and are spent locally.
If you would like to support the Friends, Annual Subscriptions cost just £10.00, with family and life memberships also available. Membership is open to anyone interested in the preserving the church, it is not necessary to be a resident of Royal Wootton Bassett. The membership secretary is Mrs Jane Spencer, she can be contacted on (01793) 851229 or by email at [email protected].
