I’m planning on going to a Quiet day at Great Chalfield on Tuesday 7 May. This is a free event, and you don’t have to book in advance. You can just turn up. I have a space or two in my car and would be happy to take one or two more people.
It is advertised as a place and a time for prayer, silence, reflection and the opportunity to listen to God and appreciate his creation.
It takes place at Great Chalfield Manor. The postcode is SN12 8NH. It is a 15th century National Trust property steeped in history, with beautiful gardens. The parish church in the grounds dates from 14th century. On Quiet Days the grounds are open by kind permission of the National Trust.
The day starts at 9.30 am with a welcome and refreshments. There is an opening prayer at 10.00 am. Please bring your own packed lunch.
At 1.00 pm there is a short service with a reflection.
The day finishes at 3.00 pm. On 7th May the speaker will be Angela Grist who is an LLM.
You are welcome to just turn up. You don’t have to let me know if you’re going, but please ask if you want a lift with me. There is no charge for the day, but they welcome donations to cover expenses. What a gift!
Look forward to seeing any of you there.
Future quiet days are arranged on the first Tuesday of every month. There is a break in August.
With kind regards
Rebecca
