Accessibility

We have toilets in the Canford Magna Centre which is across the carpark.

These are in the Accessible Toilet in the Canford Magna Centre.

We have a small car park outside the Canford Magna Centre and there is also parking both sides of the church drive.

There is designated accessible parking in front of the West End of the church during services and events.

There is a ramped entrance at the main South Door of the Church and the entrance to the Canford Magna Centre is completely level.

There is a hearing loop in the Church and also in the Canford Magna Centre.

Copies of essential documents can be made available by contacting the office prior to a. service.

Assistance dogs are welcome at all our services.

We have assessed the Canford Magna Centre and signs are now in place to make it more dementia aware.

Signing is available during most services, please check with the office before attending if this is required. We also make signing available for some Church events in the Canford Magna Centre.


Our Building

The Church is a Grade 1 listed building and the oldest working building in Poole which is still being used for its original purpose.


Music and Worship

We have a team of bell ringers who ring for the main service on Sundays and also for weddings by arrangement. The practise on a Friday evening. New ringers are always welcome as are visitors. See the website www.canfordparish.org for more details and information on how to contact the bell captain.

The Church is used for concerts and live music events. More details of up-coming events are on the website.

We have an organ which is used for some services and can be used for weddings.

One the 1st Sunday of the month and at festival times at 8:30am there is a service using the Book of Common Prayer. This is a spoken Eucharistic service lasting about 45 minutes. See the events calendar on the Church website for more details or contact the Church office.


Groups, Courses and Activities

We run regular Alpha courses and also other courses as appropriate. Contact the churchwarden [email protected] for more information.

We have Life Groups who meet to study God's words, to pray (for each other, the church and also world events) a for fellowship and support. These meet at various times during the week - daytime and evening - as mixed groups or as men's or ladies groups. Contact the churchwarden [email protected] for more information or to join a group.

On the 2nd Saturday of the month between 10:30am and 12:30pm we hold a Coffee & Cake 'Drop in' in the Canford Magna Centre. See the Events calendar on the Church website for more details.

We run a group called Silver Linings twice a month in the Canford Magna Centre. There are regular lunches and outings during the Summer. See the Events calendar on the Church website for more details.

We run a term time Parent and Toddler group called Offspring. This is Tuesday mornings between 10am and Noon. See the Children and Families tab on the Church website for more details. Or contact Sharon our Families worker on [email protected].


Help for Visitors

During services and events in the Canford Magna Centre we can offer free wifi facilities.

There is a Welcome Pack available in the Church and the Canford Magna Centre with all current information about regular services and events. There is also a short history of the Church which is available in the Church.

The Church is opened at 7:20am each week day for Morning prayers and remains open until dusk although access may be restricted during services for Canford School, funerals or weddings. It is usually open on Saturdays between 9am and dusk but access may be restricted during weddings. On Sundays the Church is opened by 9:30am and remains open until dusk.


Other Features

We aim to use Fair-trade products whenever possible.

We support Wimborne Foodbank with regular weekly collections of food and money.

Due to the layout of the Church we use video cameras and monitors to enable everyone to access the services. We use a laptop to display liturgy being used, presentations by our own and visiting speakers and also video notices

We are on the banks of the River Stour and are involved in a conservation project called Kingfisher where our aim is to make all God has given us accessible to all. To this end we arrange visits for those with mobility of learning challenges. See the Kingfisher tab on the Church website for more details.
