Above the Chancel arch there is a stone tablet inscribed with the words of Psalm 84 vs 1 and 2. Our recent restoration work on the tablet has uncovered an unusual anomaly. For a long time the word "dwellings" was not particulalry legible and now we know the reason why. Part of the word "dwellings" has been written over a previous word, of which only the letters "Th" can be seen. The "Th" is not in line with the overwritten text. Tantalisingly this may indicate that a previous text is present, pre-dating the words of Psalm 84. For now, the text and tablet have been restored and stabilised, but we await Diocesan comment on what we should do in the future.
