Getting here

St Nicholas’s Church, which serves the two civil parishes of Durweston and Bryanston, lies in the centre of Durweston and still plays a major role in the life of the villages.  It has recently taken the lead in celebrating the Queen’s birthday etc. and the Fete and Harvest Supper are important occasions for the village.  The churchyard also serves both villages, is well maintained and contains some War Graves.

The Church can raise a respectable choir for special occasions and has a band that plays at the family service each month.  The local Durweston Choral Society, which also draws on neighbouring villages, performs and rehearses in the church and holds a more informal event at Christmas.  There is a very active bell tower with 6 bells.  Visiting teams also rings the bells.

The church fete is remarkable for the sum raised each year and the enthusiastic support not only from both villages but also from further a field. Christmas and Easter Bazaars have been have prove very popular. A sponsored horse ride is organised each year to support the Church Restoration Trust.
