About Us

St. Nicholas Church Silton is set in the rolling countryside of North Dorset close to Stourhead and just north of Gillingham, Dorset.

In November 2018, the church became part of the benefice of St. Mary the Virgin, Gillingham with the church of St. Simon and St. Jude Milton-on-Stour.  Our rector is the  Reverend Canon Peter Greenwood who is assisted by Reverend Eve Pegler.  We are also fortunate to have regular visits from four retired priests.

Weekly Sunday services ( Book of Common Prayer 1662) begin at 1030am.  Holy Communion is celebrated on the first and third  Sundays and a service of Matins takes place on second and fourth Sunday of each month.  

The Society of Friends of Silton run regular fund-raising events in the Village Hall throughout the year such as Quiz Nights, BBQs, Coffee Mornings and Plant Sales.  These are always fun and well-supported by the community and congregation.
