About Us

Christian disciples gathered together in Milehouse and Ford

St Bartholomew's is part of the United Parish of St Bartholomew and St Mark, Devonport, Plymouth.  The present building was consecrated in 1959 and stands on Outland Road, directly opposite the Plymouth Life Centre and a few doors away from the Britannia Pub.

The Church was built on the grounds of Outlands, onetime a country house and birthplace of the Antarctic Explorer, Captain Robert Falcon Scott.  There is a small exhibition of documents and photographs relating to Scott inside the Church.

There are good, modern facilities both in the Church itself and in the adjoining Church Hall which is well used by church and community groups throughout the week.

Our worship is centered on the Sunday Sung Mass (10.00) and there is a warm welcome to all who join us.  The Mass is also celebrated several times during the week, and this, together with the Daily Offices of Morning and Evening Prayer, provides a regular rhythm of prayer and worship.  The aim of our Christian Community is to proclaim and live out the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Word and Sacrament with all with whom we have contact.

As well as at service times, the Church is normally open every day we encourage you to feel free to pray a while in peace.
