The course will be led by Clive Jobbins and if the debate is good we'll keep going so stay as long as you're able. The topic is The Aramaic IV The Lord’s Prayer: A Reflection in four sessions of an hour or more.
The Aramaic words which we will reflect upon are based on Neil Douglas-Klotz’ excellent scholarship and will be used as a core text. As I studied them in the past, I was made to think again of the language Jesus spoke and how the words of Lord’s Prayer which we say, comes from the restrictive Latin, Hebrew, and Greek. There is a richness, colour, mystical meaning, and interpretation in the Aramaic words which has been arguably lost to us or only limited to the ivory towers of scholars.
Soup lunch will be provided, so please call the Warden, Chris Rogers on 07870 265386 to make sure there's plenty of soup.
