Rogation Service

Occuring
for 1 hour
Venue
St John the Evangelist, Countisbury
Address
St John the Evangelist, Countisbury, United Kingdom

Rogation Sunday is the tradition of asking for God's blessing on agriculture and industry and also of
'beating the bounds' which also reinforced the Parish boundaries. It falls on 5th Sunday after Easter.

You are invited to meet at St John the Evangelist, Countisbury at 2pm on Sunday 14th May to either sit
and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Church and grounds or to walk up Countisbury Hill, as a group,
asking for blessings for flourishment of agriculture and people and to beat the bounds, before returning to
St John the Evangelist for a Service followed by refreshments.
Please park at BARNA BARROW car park and follow the footpath down to the Church (about a
10minute stroll).
St John the Evangelist, Countisbury and Countisbury Hill is the best placed location within the Lyn Valley
Mission Community to effectively overlook all of the other parishes (Brendon, Lynmouth, Lynton,
Barbrook, Parracombe, Martinhoe and Trentishoe).
Donations of cakes, biscuits etc. or volunteers to direct people, assist with the provisions of
refreshments, to welcome people etc would be gratefully appreciated; please could you let Sam White
([email protected]) know.

Christ Church

Dear Church Visitor

Whether you are a virtual or actual visitor, then welcome.  The church is open daily from10am until 4pm for private prayer. We offer a quiet place to sit away from the noise and distractions of the world.

Our regular services are Holy Communion at 9am on the first Sunday of each month, and a less formal family worship at 10am on the third Sunday led by members of the congregation. There will be extra services for special events in the church year such as Christmas, Easter and Plough Sunday.

If you are on holiday here and visiting the area, you will be very welcome at any of our services.

Visitors are very welcome. If you are a passing walker or cyclist, you may be grateful for somewhere to make running repairs. You will find a small box of useful items just inside the door on the table on the left.

You can find the latest Mission Community Newsletter in the News and Notices menu under Notice Sheets.
