Occurring
for 1 hour
Venue
St Mary's Church, Lynton.
Address
St Mary's Church, Lynton.

As Lyn Valley Mission Community enters a Vacancy (the period of time between one Vicar leaving a Parish and a new one being appointed) you are invited to attend a Vision Meeting on TUESDAY 25th JULY 2023 at St Mary's Church, Lynton starting at 7pm (refreshments from 6.45pm).

This is an opportunity for residents across the Lyn Valley Mission Community (both Church and the wider communities) to hear from the Archdeacon of Barnstaple Verena Breed as she explains the Vacancy process, what can be expected between now and when the new Incumbent has been selected and to start the process of discerning what we are looking for in our next parish priest.

If you have any specific questions that you would like put to Archdeacon Verena Breed please could these be emailed to [email protected] in advance of the meeting.

St Brendan

Dear Church Visitor,

The church of St Brendan stands rather remotely at the top of a steep hill and some distance from the village of Brendon. There are currently no regular services but there are services to celebrate major festivals in the church year such as Harvest Festival and a carol service. Parishioners are welcome to join the congregation at other churches in the Lyn Mission. There are often invitations to join the congregation at The Blessed Virgin Mary at Oare which for many is more convenient in travelling distance.

The image on the home page is the intricately carved reredos behind the altar, the work of John William Floyd 1871 - 1935, a craftsman carpenter who made it his life's work to produce wood carvings for the church.
