Everyone who lives within Brendon Parish is warmly invited to an important meeting at 11am on SATURDAY 2 APRIL 2022 to be held at Brendon Village Hall to discuss the future of St Brendan’s, YOUR Parish Church, which is currently at a real risk because there are not enough members of the PCC. It will be an opportunity to hear what the current situation requires and to invite and offer ideas for the future.
This is a crucial meeting to discuss the future of your Parish Church – the church is currently at a real risk because last year the PCC, the body charged with the governance of a parish church, became inquorate, in other words, there were not enough members to fulfil that role. The Church of England has a temporary, emergency response to such a situation, which is for the Bishop to direct that the Priest-in-charge must fulfil the varied responsibilities of a PCC. This is the case currently, but is clearly unsustainable in the long term so it is required that new governance arrangements can be put in place with those who are supportive in the local community in order for the church to remain open. We need new volunteers to step up and be willing to take responsibilities in the running of the church.
If you are interested in supporting this but are unable to attend please send suggestions to: [email protected] or put your suggestions in a box just inside the Church.
