St Bartholomew

Dear Virtual Church Visitor,

We are pleased to be celebrating the 150th anniversary of the church.

2025 is the 150th Anniversary of the opening of St Bartholomew’s, Barbrook. St Bartholomew's was built in 1875 to provide an alternative place of worship to the Wesleyan chapel, for the people of Barbrook Mill, a community built around the sawmill. It was built as a "Mission" Church of St Mary the Virgin, Lynton.

There are no regular weekly services at St Bartholomew though services are held for significant annual events in the church calendar. Parishioners are welcome to join services at other churches in the Lyn Mission Community.

You can find the latest Mission Community Newsletter in the News and Notices menu under Notice Sheets.

Safeguarding

Our parish of Lynton with Barbrook: St Bartholomew's Parish is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Exeter’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO Lyn White 07726776654 or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (Details in the link below). If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.
