The Holsworthy Amateur Radio Club set up their aerials and transmitters on Friday 10th September and we (church officials) decided to raise funds for our roof by supplying tea and cakes to visitors.September 11th was possibly the biggest events day of 2021 in our locality and we were competing for visitors with tractor ploughing, a massive vintage tractor sale, jumble sales and other public events. However we had a steady flow of visitors and managed to make a small but respectable amount to add to our church roof appeal. The radio enthusiasts contacted other groups in all areas of the UK and also made contact with person in Poland, it was quite nice to hear our special one day signal over the airwaves. GB0MDC.We had a lovely day - and the Holsworthy Amateur Radio Club said that they did too - the first itme they had been able to operate from a church on this one day per year.We look forward to welcoming them back next year.
