Our bodies are amazing and complex creations and we need to look after them. God wants us to be whole, complete people and this means looking after our physical bodies just as much as our mental health or spiritual needs.
With this in mind we have exercise groups meeting in church led by our qualified instructor, Debby, a member of the congregation. These have grown in strength over the last few years, particularly amongst the over 50s. Both men and women are welcome.
Exercise groups have restarted following lockdown with a limited number per session so we can be well spaced out. BOOKING ESSENTIAL. Please contact Debby through the church office- Tel.01803 401316.
Debby currently leads the following groups:
Thursday 09.30 am Pilates with mat work
Thursday 10.45 am Pilates with mat work
Everyone is encouraged to work at his or her own pace, promoting effort not pain.
The Pilates groups are particularly for the over 50s with the aim of strengthening key areas to help prevent thinning bones (osteoporosis) and fragility fractures. Statistics show that 1 in 2 women and 1 in 3 men over 60 are likely to get a fracture due to thinning bones. Suitable exercise may reduce this.
