It was wonderful to see so many people in our village united in raising money for people suffering in Ukraine at the weekend. With more than two million refugees and many millions more trapped and under attack in their own country, our prayers and fundraising must continue.
Christian Aid was established to help European war refugees in earlier times and is part of the Disasters Emergency Committee Appeal for Ukraine now too. As we find practical ways to help by giving what we can, we can also ask God to help in ways we cannot, just as King George VI did when he called the country to a day of prayer in World War II just before the evacuation of Dunkirk. As millions gathered to pray that Sunday, more than 800 little boats set off across the Channel.
