Getting here
Having been a sacred place at the heart of the community of South Zeal for many generations, then derelict after the the Reformation in the 16th century, then a school, St. Mary's is once again a place of prayer, hospitality and worship.
Our small and beautiful building is Grade II* listed, within the parish of South Tawton and its sister church is St Andrew's (see separate listing). Like all our churches in the Whiddon Parishes, St Mary's is open during daylight hours and you are most welcome to visit, whatever your tradition or spiritual journey.
Regular worship includes SoulSpace, every Tuesday 11am-11.30am, which offers time of reflective prayer and meditation and also our early morning service of Holy Communion (alternating between Common Worship and Book of Common Prayer) on the 4th Sunday of each month at 8am. A group also meets every Monday afternoon for 'Praying the Bible'. More details from the Parish Office. All are welcome. Other events happen at St Mary's, too, like concerts and visits from our local primary school.
We hope that you might visit us and be encouraged by what the Holy Spirit is doing here in our community.
