We started on the EcoChurch journey with our Fragile Earth event in partnership with other Sidmouth churches in 2018. Following this we successfully bid for bronze accreditation in early 2020, just before the pandemic. Now we have progressed to the silver level. Key aspects of our further work have been to engage with a wider range of local organisations, including the Town and County Councils. Mindful of the carbon emissions embodied in the things we buy as well as in our consumption, we have put off replacing our heating system until the end of the decade, but another step towards our Net Zero target has been to sign up to a green tariff which as well as fully renewable electricity, includes 10% biogas and offsets the emissions of the remainder.
