St Paul's Wimbledon Parkside

We are a friendly, open and inclusive church.  We welcome everyone from any faith and none, and from any age-group, nationality and background. We come from a variety of Christian and other traditions. We meet together to renew and build our Christian knowledge and faith and try to live our lives according to the example and teachings of Jesus. Some people attend services most Sundays, others less frequently, and some only occasionally on major festivals like Easter and Christmas. We are at different places in our spiritual journeys, and we have different interpretations of the Christian faith, but we enjoy learning from and encouraging each other.

Our Vicar is Revd Susan Bolen. We have a Curate, Revd Dr. Jack Belloli. Our Licensed Reader, Norman Allen, takes some services. Our local Bishop is the Bishop of Kingston and we are part of the Diocese of Southwark.

Our main service is Holy Communion, with music, at 10 am every Sunday, followed by tea and coffee in the Community Centre. We also offer a Eucharist service every Wednesday at midday in the Lady Chapel in church. Music has a central place in our worship. We have a Director of Music, Kevin Jones, and an active church choir. We also have quiet services in the small chapel, and the church is open at set times each week for prayer and quiet reflection. Our main services are livestreamed on our YouTube channel: St Paul's Wimbledon Parkside. You are very welcome to join us online or in church.

Families are especially welcome. We run 'Tea & Toys' for parents/carers and toddlers, normally every Tuesday at 9.30 am in church during term-time. Every first Sunday in the month (in the afternoon) we hold Messy Church, a different, more informal, approach to worship for children and adults. We also run two after-school clubs every Wednesday from 3.30 to 5.30 pm during term time: Wednesday Club for 10-14 year-olds, which offers crafts, games, activities, sports and snacks in our Community Centre; and 'Tea & Toast' for 4-9 year-olds accompanied by their parents, which takes place in church at the same time.

We aim to serve our local community in different ways, many of them based on our Community Centre, where we run several different groups and activities for local people including a very popular Lunch Club every Tuesday. Our Vicar takes very seriously her duty to serve everyone who lives in the parish.

The church building dates from 1896 and is listed Grade II*, mainly because of the striking interior by a famous Victorian designer, Charles Eamer Kempe. Of particular note are the stained glass windows and the beautifully restored carved reredos to the rear of the  high altar. The church has a wonderful acoustic quality and is a much sought-after venue for concerts and musical recitals year-round. Refer to our website www.stpaulsparkside.org.uk for details of upcoming events at St Paul's.

Please feel free to come along and visit us for a service or during open church hours.  Have a look around, or say a quiet prayer if you wish to. Any of our staff team will be happy to chat, so don't feel hesitant about approaching us. If a service is taking place, do feel free to join in, or just sit quietly as you prefer. You are at home here and we look forward to welcoming you.
