We meet together in St Margaret's Church every Tuesday and Friday

Each week at St Margaret's Church we celebrate the Eucharist. All are welcome to join us.

The fourth Sunday is a more Family Friendly Service and for information go to the Family Communion page.

Monthly. Every Fourth Sunday at 10 a.m. for 1 hour

This service uses a more informal liturgy and music is accompanied by a band. More suited to young families maybe.

Safeguarding should be at the forefront of all we do as church, it's our primary responsibility to provide a place and community to which all can safely belong. We will be highlighting this as vision and practice on 24th November, our safeguarding Sunday this year.

On the second and fourth Sunday of the month, St Margaret's Church hosts a Choral Evensong following the Book of Common Prayer (BCP) order of service. This starts at 6.30pm unless otherwise indicated in the Newsletter.

Every Monday evening at 7pm, on Zoom, with Revd. Peter. Night Prayer, or the Prayers at the End of the Day, is the final prayer liturgy of the day in the Christian tradition of canonical hours.

Tuesday morning next week 26th November immediately after Morning Prayer at 9.30am the Chandelier will be lowered and preparation and cleaning will begin.
• The project will be supervised by Michael Horwood who knows how to take the chandelier apart and re-assemble
• The parts will be laid out in the front pews.
• If you bring brasso and cloths for cleaning and polishing with you cleaning will begin.
• On completion of all cleaning the chandelier will be put together.
• New candles will be fitted ready for the Advent Carol Service to which you will be very welcome.
• During the cleaning and polishing, which will happen with vigour, ten-minute breaks will be allowed for coffee, tea and cake.
• Come and go as you please, even for fifteen minutes.
• If there are too many volunteers, then some will be re-deployed to clean the Lectern.
• All we need are volunteers (there is no pay), to clean and polish and to make coffee for the workers.
• If you spot anyone not included above, please let them know as well.

Prayer Breakfast

A simple breakfast, a hymn, short reading & open or silent prayers of the heart.

Each month focusing upon an aspect of the mission community ministry and outreach.

For the month of December Elizabeth writes - Our focus for prayer this month will be for:
• Ask God to open people's hearts and minds to the real meaning of Christmas
• For all the Christmas services/events at St Margaret’s & St Luke’s
• For the lonely and those who struggle at Christmas
• We give thanks, for our doctors/nurses/police/carers and all those who work over the Christmas period
• We especially bring before God, those who are homeless, children in care and those waiting to be adopted. Those away from their families in prisons, the refugees and asylum seekers
• For those who can’t worship you without fear for their lives
• Current affairs

All are welcome.

For the second Sunday of Advent the theme will be the Prophets of the Old Testament.

There is a service in each of our two churches at the same time of 10.00 am.

‘Open the Story at St Luke’s Forest School’ is held in the grounds of Countess Wear Community School. A bible story is explored with lively activities planned. It culminates in discussion, prayer and a song round a bonfire. There are regularly twenty to thirty people of all ages attending, and sometimes more. The majority of these are children but it is a whole family event.
The theme each Sunday changes.

On the second Monday of the month at 2.30 pm

Julian meetings are held all over the world to foster the practice and teaching of meditation and contemplative prayer within the Christian tradition.

It is a chance to still oneself from the busyness of life, to enter into deep silence, stillness. Many people repeat a word quietly to centre their prayer and as the mind may wander, come back to the word.

We start with music to steady our thoughts. This leads us into our 40 minutes of silence and then music once again to lead us out from the depths of stillness. We then finish with tea and cake and chat.

If you would like to come along and give it a go, you can be sure of a very warm welcome as we enter silence together. We look forward to meeting you.
