All Saints Church's Fellowship Lunch Welcomes You

Church_news
Every first Sunday of the month, the Parish Centre adjacent to All Saints Church becomes ahub of warmth and connection, as individuals gather for the newly re-established FellowshipLunch. This welcoming initiative evolved from the former "Loss Adjusters’ meetings" which, while successful prior to lockdowns, were ready for a refreshing update.

In early 2023, All Saints Church recognised a continued need for community support, particularly for those who might find themselves eating alone. A series of discussions withbereaved individuals, including six widows and two former Loss Adjusters, revealed a desirefor a Sunday lunch gathering, but with a renewed focus. The previous format, held at localrestaurants, had become challenging to manage due to increasing numbers and theprogramme’s natural growth.

The solution? A shift from a traditional restaurant setting to a more flexible "FellowshipLunch" held within the church's own Parish Centre. This new format features a delightfulfinger buffet of pre-ordered sandwiches from Marks and Spencer, offered at a modest cost of£5 for food and £2 for a glass of wine.

The name Fellowship Lunch perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the gathering. It's an openinvitation to anyone seeking companionship and a shared meal. A team of willing helpersensures a smooth and welcoming experience, setting tables and managing the cleanup.Since its inception in June 2023, the Fellowship Lunch has seen a steady increase inattendance, growing from 11 participants to as many as 30, though numbers naturallyfluctuate. The consensus is clear: this straightforward and heartfelt initiative providesinvaluable companionship and fellowship, offering a vital connection for those who might otherwise dine alone.
