Good Friday, 18 April at 17h30 - Service of Shadows

Occurring
for 1 hour
Venue
St. Peter's Anglican Church, Château-d'Oex
Address
Grand Rue 49, Château-d’Œx, 1660, Switzerland

The Service of Shadows is a solemn and moving liturgy held on Good Friday to remember the suffering and death of Jesus. Rooted in the ancient Tenebrae tradition, the service features Scripture readings, music, silence, and the gradual extinguishing of candles.

As each part of the Passion story is read, a candle is put out, symbolizing the growing darkness of Jesus’ final hours. The service ends in near darkness and silence, inviting quiet reflection as we await the light of Easter morning.
