28th July 10.30am, Eucharist for the Ninth Sunday after Trinity

Occurring
for 1 hour
Venue
Vélez-Málaga Anglican Congregation
Address
Lux Mundi Ecumenical Centre chapel, Avenida Moscatel, 1, Calle Casa de la Viña, Torre del Mar, 29740, Spain

The readings at this time of year cover Jesus' miracles and teaching. This is where we meet the Jesus of the every day, the Jesus of farmers and fisherman, who told stories of lost sheep, a man beaten up by the roadside, a ponsy landowner, fishers of men, treasure buried in a field, seed sown by the wayside, or, as in today's gospel, where Jesus stops by the sea of Galilee and sees that the crowd are hungry and weary, and as his disciples look for a place to buy food, a boy comes forward with five barley loaves and two fish, and there is enough for everyone to eat. Our God is a God of the people, not in far off Jerusalem, but walking every day through the fields, and along the shores, of Galilee.

After the service there will be a small celebration to thank Peter Read for all that he has done to support the Chaplaincy, not least in his role as Congregational Warden here at Velez-Malaga.
