Alleluia, Christ is risen! He is risen indeed, alleluia! St Edmund's held an Easter Vigil service for the first time this Easter on the evening of Holy Saturday. Members of the congregation and friends from the nearby Swedish Church gathered outside as the new Paschal Candle was lit from the fire, blazing with branches from December's Christmas tree, and safely contained within the 3-legged brazier belonging to the Swedish Church. The light was carried inside the darkened church and everyone's candles lit from it before the Exsultet was sung proclaiming Christ's resurrection from the dead, and the story of our salvation retold from the Scriptures.
