This policy is to enable compliance with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) which came into force on 25 May 2018, replacing previous UK Data Protection Acts. The policy was published in Assisi Outlook (51) for dissemination amongst the congregation.
The Anglican congregation of St Leonard’s, Assisi (the Congregation) will request new members' permission to collect and hold their personal details. These details are required to send out news items, make contact on Congregation business, advise of events organised by the Congregation and advise of other matters related to the wider church. The Congregation will hold this data securely and confidentially on electronic devices, and the member has the right to access their own personal data. The only data held is contact information for each member. On resignation, relevant data will be removed. Withdrawal of consent and a request to remove relevant data may be made at any time by contacting the Congregation. Complaints about the handling of data can be made to ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office – ico.org.uk).
The Congregation will contact members according to their chosen method(s) of contact. The preferred method of communication with members is via email but in the event of a member not having access to email, every reasonable effort will be made to ensure communication. Notification of General Meetings will be sent to email addresses or to a UK postal address provided by the member but not to an overseas postal address.
The congregation will not sell or pass any contact details to any other business or person.
