Our Building
St George's was built by and for the English just before the First World War. It stands on the edge of a beautiful conservation area which includes the Casino, the Hotel de Portugal and its park.
Music and Worship
The church contains the only ring of bells in France hung for change ringing. They were cast in 2018 and 2019 by John Taylor & Co of Loughborough and were inaugurated on Easter Day, 2019. With a tenor of just over 5cwt, they are the world's second lightest ring of ten bells in a church. Service ringing is at 9:15 a.m. on Sundays. Visiting ringers are most welcome, but you should check that there are enough ringers available to ring. Contact details are on our website. We Practices are on Saturday afternoons, at 17:00.
Details op concerts and other events in the church appear on our website. A yoga group meets in the church on Mondays at 11:00. New participants welcome.
The organ came from a church on Humberside which no longer wanted it. It was dismantled there and re-assembled in St George's around fifteen years ago. It's a two manual Walker pipe organ dating from the 1960s and it's perfect for the building, where it is used every Sunday.
