At the Anglican Church in Sofia, we affirm the following as the foundation of our faith and life together:
“Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.” (Romans 15:7)
Our Faith
God:
We believe in one God, who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, eternally existing in love and unity.
Jesus Christ:
We proclaim Jesus Christ as our Saviour and Lord, who lived, died, and rose again for the salvation of the world.
The Holy Spirit:
We trust in the Holy Spirit, who empowers us to live as Christ’s disciples and builds the Church as the body of Christ.
Scripture and Tradition
The Bible:
We hold the Holy Scriptures as God’s inspired Word, revealing His will and guiding us in faith and practice.
The Creeds:
We affirm the Apostles’ Creed and Nicene Creed as summaries of the Christian faith.
The Sacraments:
We celebrate the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion as visible signs of God’s grace and love, in line with Anglican tradition.
Worship and Liturgy
Liturgical Heritage:
Our worship is rooted in the Church of England’s Common Worship, enriched by Anglican traditions. We seek to offer a liturgical experience that blends the beauty of traditional hymns with the richness of contemporary expressions of faith.
Worship:
We gather to glorify God, offer prayer and thanksgiving, and encounter His presence in word and sacrament.
Our Mission
Discipleship:
We seek to grow as followers of Christ, learning from His Word and walking in His ways.
Service:
We are committed to serving our community with compassion and sharing the love of Christ with all.
Our Community
Humility and Grace:
We recognise that faith is a journey, and we approach theology and belief with humility, grace, and love, as Jesus taught us. We do not claim to have all the answers or to be right in all things, and we honour the sincerity of others' convictions. Within our community, we celebrate the richness of diverse perspectives, seeking unity through mutual respect and a shared commitment to Christ.
Inclusion:
In line with our motto, “All Are Welcome. All Are Loved,” we believe every person is made in God’s image and is deeply loved by Him. We strive to create a space where everyone can find a home, regardless of background, nationality, or life circumstances.
Unity in Diversity:
We cherish our heritage as part of the Church of England and the global Anglican Communion. We value the diversity of beliefs and practices within our congregation, embracing different understandings as opportunities for growth and as reflections of God’s creativity and grace.
Hope:
Rooted in the resurrection of Jesus, we live in the hope of His coming kingdom, where justice, peace, and love will reign forever.
