THE EMBER BIG BAND - "REMEMBERING WESTON`S WAR".
All Saints, the church by the pond at Weston Green, was consecrated in 1939. Months later, we were at war – and the parish paid a heavy price. It was on the main supply route between London and Southampton; close to the Hawkers factory in Kingston (where Hurricane bombers were being made) and to Weybridge (where Vickers was producing Wellingtons as fast as it could with the help of women of the community who took on factory work while their menfolk were away fighting). Nick Handel, a former BBC TV producer, has put together a `musical documentary` celebrating 80 years since the end of hostilities. It paints a picture of the war years through the eyes of local people whose early childhood was spent under the threat of air invasion and air attack while enduring evacuation and privation.

World War 2 also gave birth to some of greatest songs ever written – and, for Weston`s War, Nick is bringing in The Ember Big Band to reflect the period with numbers like "Little Brown Jug", "The White Cliffs of Dover", "In the Mood", "Sing Sing Sing" "On the Sunny Side of the Street" and "We`ll Meet Again".

"Remembering Weston`s War" recalls incidents that will astonish a 21st century audience
