Continuing our Exploring Christianity programme, Roy Waight will talk about the inspirational life of missionary Gladys Aylward at 6pm on Sunday 21st January in St Mary’s Church Hall. Gladys Aylward 1902 – 1970 started adulthood as a housemaid with little money, no formal education, but a burning desire to become a missionary. In 1932, with a Bible, passport, and two pounds in money, she travelled on the Trans-Siberian Railway to Yangcheng, China, to devote her life to rescuing and caring for orphaned children. Her trust in Christ, and her courage and tenacity inspires. In 1958, her life was captured in the film: "The Inn of the Sixth Happiness."
Discussion over refreshments afterwards. Donations to Guildford Action, Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice and the church.
