Charles Morton was landlord of the Barley Mow for over twenty years until his death in 1890. He was evidently a well-known local figure. On the same page you will find mention of the filming in 1966 of the Boulting Brothers' Wedlocked, as it was then known - before release it became The Family Way, starring Hayley Mills and Hywel Bennett with Wilfred Pickles and Avril Angers. The opening scenes, the young couple's wedding, were filmed in St Jude's.
